As nervous as we are before any game the Romford faithful, supporters, and committee filed into the Havering council chambers to hear our planning application on Thursday evening. Due to be the third item on the agenda we were moved up the running order, and whilst still settling into unfamiliar surroundings a map of Westlands was on the big screen.
After a brief explanation from planning on what we were building councillors had the opportunity to question the plans. No specific issues were raised but one councillor asked if the support for our facility would be replicated around the Borough. That was a question for another day.
Two councillors, Viddy Persuad and Michael White both spoke well in favour of the plans, and Viddy spoke on behalf of the 3 councillors in her ward. It was then time for the vote. we needed 5 yes, from the ballot. There were 2 Yes, and it looked like the machine wasn't working, then 2 more, then the final 3 . So 8 in favour, no abstentions and none against. The plans are approved, we can enjoy the weekend then on Monday the hard work starts anew, but with a different set of tasks and a different set of hurdles.

The journey continues, and a look towards the sky as those not with us are remembered.
