For the second match in succession there was a delayed kick off but this time it was due to the late arrival of injury hit Boro who could only name two fully fit players for the substitutes bench. Kicking down the pronounced slope they dominated most of the first half but yet again could not capitalise on a lot of good build up play. On many occasions the visitors just could not find that final killer ball and when the Mildenhall goal was threatened they often came up against Josh Curry who was able to retrieve a few sticky situations with some neat defensive play and strong clearances. Romford's best chances fell to Greg Akpele in the eighteenth minute when he was put through on goal, but his shot lacked sufficient power to trouble the keeper and a free kick that was slightly too long to be reached by Tom Potter running in on goal. Approaching half time Boro forced a series of corners but they were all dealt with by the Mildenhall defence.
With the slope in their favour for the second period the hosts now came into the game a lot more and for a while Romford were pushed back, but there was only really one attack in the sixty first minute that required a decent save from Rob Budd. The previous drawn game between the clubs at Ship Lane had some feisty moments but there was no way this match could be described as over physical, so it was disappointing that play was constantly disrupted by the referee whistling for the tiniest infringements and Romford will be puzzled to know how they finished the evening with five yellow cards. As proceedings drew to a close both defences seemed to lose their concentration and victory could have gone either way. Potter got a good connection onto Kai Heather's curling free kick into the goalmouth but was foiled by an excellent diving save and almost immediately a Mildenhall attack ended with the ball thumping the Boro crossbar and going over from a long shot that had Budd beaten.
