In a game of very few chances a defence splitting pass ten minutes from time set up Shamido Pedulu to race through and slotted past Rob Budd to score the only goal of the game. Unfortunately this league continues to be unpredictable as Norwich smashed promotion chasing Canvey away from home to move off the bottom as Romford replace them.
Neither team deserved victory as chances were few and far between for both side, with Nathan Okoye heading Romford's only effort on target straight at the keeper. Things had started brightly for Romford when in the third minute Danny Cossington fired just over after a solid run by Ayo Olukoga and a pull back from Carlos Djalo. Neither team created anything clear cut but knowing the score at Canvey Romford decided to push forward and were eventually caught out.
Romford know they will have to go again and have a chance to do that at Brentwood on Saturday but even if they win their last three games they could still go down.
