Romford (0) 0, Cockfosters (0) 1 – Tuesday 14th July 2026 – Pre-Season Friendly
A single second half goal for Cockfosters was enough to give last season’s FA Vase Finalists the win in Boro’s second pre-season game.
Cockfosters’ former Romford striker Hassan Nalbant had the game’s first real opportunity, but he headed wide after 19 minutes, while Matt price had Boro’s best two first half efforts. After 29 minutes he ran onto a perfectly weighted pass but ex-Boro keeper Jake Anderson was quickly off his line to thwart him, and when the ball was recycled, Price curled a shot against the foot of a post.
Five minutes before the break, Boro went close through Fabio Viera who found space on the right only to see his shot deflected wide by a visiting defender.
Romford had largely been on top in the first period without a goal to show for it, but after the interval Cockfosters were more of an attacking threat, although there were few chances at either end. The visitors netted the game’s only goal after 65 minutes when a cross from the left was headed back across goal for a close-range finish.
Bor’s best opportunities after the break came from a 50th minute shot that went wide and a Matt Price free-kick on 66 minutes that was just off target.
Next on the agenda for Boro comes this Saturday with a trip to play last season’s Essex Senior League champions Little Oakley.
