Phoenix Sports (2) 4, Romford (0) 0 – Saturday 19th July 2025 – Pre-Season Friendly

With a number of players unavailable, including Jake Gordon, Dhillon Nelson, and Izzy Bademosi, Romford fell to defeat against Phoenix Sports in the penultimate pre-season friendly.

The home side took just three minutes to go ahead. Brad Davison saved the initial shot but the ball ran loose to a Phoenix forward who scored and they extended their lead half an hour later when a low cross was converted from close range. In addition, Davison saved well from a free-kick, and later from a low shot.

The second half saw Phoenix largely on top and they scored twice more, in the 67th and 81st minutes.

Boro did have a few chances; Ryan Sammons hit the bar after seven minutes following a cross from the left, and after the break Boro twice hit a post, while Ellis Devereux was denied by a good save when he attempted to chip the keeper, and Christian Adu Gyamfi headed over the bar from Kris Newby’s cross.

Romford have one more friendly before the Essex Senior League season kicks off on Friday, with a trip to play Basildon Town on Tuesday 22nd July with a 7pm kick off at Basildon Sports & Leisure Club.
