The third and last in our series of articles about the clubs joining the Essex Senior League for the coming season takes a look at Hutton FC.

The third side joining the Essex Senior League in 2026-27, along with Heybridge Swifts and Clapton Community, are Hutton FC who last season won the Eastern Counties League Division One South.

Brief History:

Formed in 1928, Hutton joined the Essex Intermediate League Division Three in 1989 and in 2011 won Division One of the now renamed Essex Olympian League, gaining promotion to the Premier Division. Following relegation in 2013, the club were promoted back to the Premier Division in 2018 and in 2023, they won the Essex Olympian League to earn promotion to the Eastern Counties League Division One South.

In 2023-24 Hutton finished fourth in the table to qualify for a Play-Off place, but they were beaten by Dunmow Town in the Semi-Final. They lost 4-1 to Hackney Wick at the same stage in 2024-25 after ending the regular season fifth in the league.

Last season Hutton were beaten just three times in league games, scoring an impressive 107 goals as the won the Eastern Counties League Division One South, but finishing just three points ahead of Clapton Community. Former Boro favourite Danny Cossington was part of the Hutton squad last season.

Previous Meetings:

There have been no previous meetings between Romford and Hutton apart from one friendly in 2018, played at Newbury Park, which ended in a 2-2 draw

Home Ground:

In 2022, Hutton began a groundsharing agreement with Tilbury to play at Chadfields, moving from their Polo Fields home on Hall Green Lane, but since the start of the 2023-24 season they have been playing at New Lodge, home of Billericay Town.

The full address of the ground that Hutton share at Billericay is New Lodge, Blunts Wall Road, Billericay, Essex CM12 9SA. By road, it’s about 30 minutes from Romford, via either the A12 to junction 12 from where the B1002 leads to Wash Road, thence Rayleigh Road (A129), Tye Common Road and finally, Blunt Hall Road. Alternatively, by taking the A127, take the B148 exit towards Laindon and then Dunton Road, Rectory Road and Tye Common Road to Blunts Wall Road.

By public transport, the nearest station is Billericay from where the ground is a 25-minute walk, although bus routes 300 and 251 run to stops nearer the ground.
