
By now you will probably have seen this on social media, even if you weren’t listening to it being broadcast live on talkSPORT, but in the draw for the Semi-Final of the Isuzu FA Vase, Romford have been paired with Lincoln United.
With Romford having been drawn out first, the First Leg will be at Rookery Hill on Saturday 30th March with the Second Leg at Lincoln United on Saturday 6th April.
The other Semi-Final sees Great Wakering Rovers face favourites Worcester City, with the First Leg of that tie to be played at Worcester.
Boro’s opponents are currently second in the United Counties League Premier Division, ten points behind leaders Sherwood Colliery but with two games in hand. To reach the Semi-Final, Lincoln United’s run has been as follows:
2Q – Newark Town (H) 1-1 (Won 7-6 on penalties)
1 – Bugbrooke St Michaels (H) 4-1
2 – Heanor Town (H) 6-0
3 – Congleton Town (H) 2-0
4 – South Liverpool (A) 1-1 Won 5-3 on penalties
5 – Hallam (A) 2-2 Won 6-5 on penalties
6 – Deal Town (H) 1-1 Won 4-3 on penalties
Prior to this season, Lincoln United’s best FA Vase performance came in 1974-75 when they reached the Quarter Finals where they lost 1-0 to Friar Lane Old Boys. Last season they lost in the Preliminary Round, 4-5 at home to Poulton Victoria.
Lincoln United, who are variously known as The Amateurs, or The Whites, were formed in 1938 as Lincoln Amateurs. Their home ground is at Ashby Avenue, Lincoln, LN6 0DY.
The ground has a capacity of 2,714 with 400 seated.
