Boro learn opponents in FA Cup and FA Vase

The FA have released the draws for the first two rounds of the FA Cup and FA Vase.

In the FA Cup, Romford have been drawn to play Stanway Rovers away in the Extra-Preliminary Round, with the tie due to be played on the weekend of 2nd/3rd August. Victory in that game would give Boro an away tie against either Haringey Borough or Halstead Town in the Preliminary Round.

Our landlords Barking have been drawn at home against Grays Athletic in the Extra-Preliminary Round.

There were 747 entrants for the FA Cup this season, two more than last year, although with Widnes FC and Farsley Celtic withdrawing from competitive football this season, the number reduces to 745.

The FA Vase sees Boro enter in the First Qualifying Round and play fellow Essex Senior League side Ilford away. This tie will be played on the weekend of 23rd/24th August. A win at Cricklefields would see Boro entertain either Cornard United or May & Baker EC in the Second Qualifying Round, which is scheduled for the weekend of 20th/21st September.

A total of 623 clubs will take part in this season’s FA Vase competition with 23 exempt to the First Round Proper and a further 23 exempt until the Second Round Proper. The only Essex Senior League club with an exemption are White Ensign, who will enter in the Second Round Proper.
