A rare away game for Boro in FA Cup replay

Following Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Mayesbrook Park, Romford and Baldock Town have to do it all over again to decide who will play in the First Qualifying Round of the FA Cup. This will be first time that Boro have played away from home since the opening day 2-1 win at Basildon United.

Unlike the first game, tomorrow’s match must provide a definite outcome. If the scores are level at the end of 90 minutes, then 30 minutes extra-time will be played and if the scores are still level then, there will be a penalty shoot-out to decide the winners.

Essex Senior League clubs in the FA Cup

There were mixed fortunes for Essex Senior League clubs involved in Saturday’s ties. Woodford Town and Hullbridge Sports won and, like Romford, Frenford drew but Halstead Town, Clapton Community, White Ensign, Hutton, and West Essex all lost.

Brantham Athletic v Halstead Town 3-1
Clapton Community v Concord Rangers 1-2
Harefield United v Hullbridge Sports 0-1
Haringey Borough v Frenford 2-2 (replay: Tuesday)
Hayes & Yeading v White Ensign 6-3
Hutton v Grays Athletic 1-2
Romford v Baldock Town 2-2 (replay: Tuesday)
West Essex v Royston Town 0-3
Woodford Town v Sawbridgeworth Town 3-1

Home Ground and How To Get There:

Baldock Town play their home games at Arlesey Town FC’s ground, The New Lamb Meadow, Hitchin Road, Arlesey, Central Bedfordshire, SG15 6RS

From Romford, Google Maps suggests that this should take about 70 minutes by road, although since the route includes the M25, take that with a pinch of salt! From the M25 anti-clockwise, leave at Junction 23 and take the A1(M) to Junction 10 (Stotfold / Baldock). Then take the A507 exit toward Stotfold / Baldock / Letchworth. Follow the A507 around Stotfold and at the roundabout, take the exit onto the A507 / Arlesey Road toward Arlesey. Continue on the A507, then turn onto Hitchin Road (B659) heading into Arlesey. New Lamb Meadow (home of Arlesey Town FC) will be located along Hitchin Road.

By public transport, the nearest station is Arlesey, which is served by Thameslink services and is just under two miles from the ground. Alternatively, Letchworth Station, to which Great Northern trains run, is just under three miles from the ground.
