Romford fell just short after taking Ryman Premier League outfit Kingstonian all the way to extra time in this cup replay epic.

After a battling draw at home on Saturday, Romford who's only change from the weekend was Tom Richardson for Reece Tranter, got off to a flyer when Matt Toms pumped a free kick into the box and after good control by Ryan Imbert, Captain Jack Barry turned and smashed the ball home to give the visitors the lead on seven minutes. Kingstonian showed they would not lay down and die and almost hit back immediately but Paul Preston was on hand to clear the ball off the Boro goal line. The hosts were knocking at the door, and it took another goal line clearance, this time from Jamie Dicks to preserve the lead. On twenty minutes Kingstonian did finally get an equaliser when a great cross from the right wing by Alex Addai found the head of Elvis Hammond and he made no mistake scoring past Aaron Omand in the Romford goal. Counter attack after counter attack ensued with both teams playing an exciting attacking game. Jamie Dicks and Tom Richardson both went close for the Boro, while at the other end Paul Preston did fantastically well to block a goalbound shot. On thirty-four minutes the visitors took the lead again when George Cocklin headed the ball to Ryan Imbert leaving the powerful forward to bury a shot into the corner of the net. After some great tackling and blocking Romford managed to see out the rest of the half and go into the changing room daring to believe in a giantkilling.

Kingstonian stepped up a gear in the second half while Romford tried to park the bus and despite a few close crosses eluding everyone, the home side had not really troubled the Boro goal despite all their possession. But out of the blue on sixty-nine minutes full back Matt Drage hit a long range effort that skidded off the pitch and into the corner of the net to equalise. Romford sub Eddie Hart had a rare second half chance for Romford, firing just over before with virtually the final kick of the second half Matt Toms, who had won the ball inside his own half spotted the Kingstonian keeper off his line and sent a forty yard dipping shot towards goal, but the ball bounced back off the crossbar and away to safety just before the referee blew up and extra time was called.

In the third minute of the first period of extra time, Ryan Imbert done well down the right to force a corner that was swung in by Abs Seymour and the ball found an unmarked Eddie Hart who powerfully headed home to give the Boro the lead yet again. Unfortunately they could only hold out for six minutes when another deep cross found the head of Nathan Pinney and he glanced his chance into the goal to make it all square again. On the stroke of half time the killer blow came for Romford as Pinney beat Aaron Omand to the ball, and despite being forced wide managed to cross for Andre McCollin to head into the net.

Romford pushed forward searching for an equaliser with Ryan Imbert firing wide but the tie was settled in the one hundredth and fifteenth minute when Chris Henry tackled a Romford defender and raced through to slot past Aaron Omand, sending a relieved Kingstonian into the next round and knocking a brave and gallant Romford out. Who says the magic of the FA Cup is over?
