A Jamie Dicks goal sent Romford into the hat for the next round of the FA Cup after they saw off Ryman Premier League opposition Bury.

Early on the visitors dominated proceedings and the Boro twice had to clear the ball off their own goal line in quick succession, but as the back four stood strong a new belief began to grow in the team. On seventeen minutes a long ball forward was expertly held up by Ryan Imbert and his touch allowed Jack Barry to burst through the midfield but the Captain dragged his shot wide. At the other end a volley by Kye Ruel flew inches wide of Aaron Omand’s far post before the Romford stopper pulled off another good save low down to his left to deny the Bury forward. For the rest of the first half Romford enjoyed the majority of the play with the impressive George Cocklin pulling the strings in midfield and on thirty-four minutes after a well worked move Paul Preston sent in a left wing cross, but Ryan Imbert’s header was deflected over the bar. Just before half time and after some more good play by the hosts, Jamie Dicks worked some space but just as he pulled the trigger his shot was blocked and bounced kindly into the keeper's hands.

The second half started where the first half left off, with Romford on top although Bury almost got lucky when a deep cross nearly drifted into the far corner, but Aaron Omand got back and tipped the ball over the bar. On the hour another fine Boro move allowed Samuel Kemp to get behind the defence on the right and the winger unselfishly pulled the ball back to Jack Barry but the midfielder's strike was expertly saved. It did not take long for Romford’s dominance to pay off and on sixty-two minutes a corner was only cleared to Jamie Dicks who after sidestepping a defender powerfully hit a left foot shot into the top corner of the goal to send the home fans delirious. Bury had to push forward but everything that was thrown at the Romford defence was easily cleared by Matt Toms and Paul Clayton and Romford still looked more threatening with Tom Richardson and Samuel Kemp being very dangerous on the counter attack. As the game ticked into injury time Bury kept pumping the ball long but the back line stood firm and after another quick counter attack Samuel Kemp nearly doubled Romford’s lead, but it didn’t matter as the Referee brought the game to an end and the Boro walked off to a standing ovation.
