Still badly depleted by injuries and suspensions, Boro had a let off five minutes into the match when an Uxbridge forward looking suspiciously offside made a mess of things after finding himself clear through on goal. Then only two minutes later Romford received a major blow when Paul Clayton was hurt in a tackle and had to be substituted by Nathan Cooper.
The game then settled down into a midfield battle with few chances for either side until the latter part of the first half. Boro came closest after 27 minutes when a clever move allowed Ryan Imbert to cross from the left for Nick Reynolds to turn and hit a poweful shot that was just tipped past the post. Just before the break Aaron Omand had to pull off a great save from an equally great long strike from Uxbridge and at the other end Nick Reynolds had a decent shout for a penalty turned down.
The second half proved to be a much better spectacle and a strong Romford start lead to a 48th minute corner taken by Reece Cosson and headed powerfully home by Matt Toms to open the scoring. This opened the game up and decent chances fell to both teams with Ryan Imbert twice coming close in the 57th and 59th minutes and good interplay between Callum Ibe and Nick Reynolds lead to the latter shooting fractionally over.
Just as it was perhaps looking like Boro might be able to see the game out, the Uxbridge equaliser came after 75 minutes with Adam Pepera heading in a corner from the left.
Both teams had chances to win the match towards the end with the visitors having a goalbound shot blocked in the area, while for Romford Matt Toms headed just past the post and Ryan Imbert shot over after a fine solo run in the last minute.
