Romford's Aaron Omand tipped over an effort from Grays striker Joel Nouble on ten minutes and Jared Small's shot was saved after a defensive mix up on twenty minutes. Romford started to have more of the game with Abs Seymour and Tom Richardson bossing the midfield and the latter going close with a good run and shot on twenty-one minutes, and moments later Eddie Hart's good cross found it's way to Daniel Jones who set up Robbie Norris, but the midfielder shot too high. Youngster Daniel Jones went close but could only fire over after a neat turn in the penalty area. Grays player Ben Osman was very lucky to be on the pitch after his second late challenge following an earlier booking and the midfielder committed two more bad fouls with either one being a regulation yellow card at any other time of the match. However the referee was too lenient and inevitably it was Osman, who gave Grays the lead when he fired through a crowd on thirty-eight minutes after the Boro failed to clear the ball. Right on half time Reece Tranter went close with a volley but it was well saved by the Grays keeper.
James Ishmail sent a shot from the edge of the box just wide after half time and at the other end Aaron Omand saved well from Nouble. Abs Seymour hit a shot that was saved on fifty-eight minutes and five minutes later Eddie Hart fired straight at the keeper after a great turn in the box. Romford were playing nice football but never really threatened the Grays goal with anything menacing and at the other end Aaron Omand tipped two Grays free kicks over. Romford’s Paul Clayton was sent off for a second yellow card to the annoyance of the Romford fans as Osman was still on the pitch and in the final minute Dan Fry scored as Grays exposed the free space left in the Boro defence to give the visitors their second win over Romford this season.
