With little to play for in the season Romford once again started sluggishly and conceded after eleven minutes when Jacob Cleaver raced through and shot home. Three minutes later and a good save by Atu Ngoy kept the score at one before the big stopper was nearly caught off his line with a lob, but he did well to back track and tip it wide. The host's shots were in more danger of damaging the cars outside than hitting the back of the net and right on half time Alex Akrofi turned his marker and placed the ball in the bottom corner to make it two for Brentwood.
Romford's management must have given the team a stern telling off during the break as they looked much better in the second half and quickly reduced the deficit. Joe Oates crossed in a free kick that found Nick Reynolds who headed home via a deflection on fifty-one minutes. Then David Ottley managed to clear a Brentwood chance off the line and a long ball forward found Nick Reynolds who took the ball past the keeper before being felled. Joe Oates stepped up to take the spot kick but unlike Saturday hit a weak effort that was easily saved. That miss knocked the stuffing out of Romford and denied us a thrilling finale as Akrofi raced through to grab his second and Brentwood's third on eighty-three minutes. There was still time for Jamie Dicks to grab his first goal of the season, powering a shot through a crowded penalty area in stoppage time but the Boro could not create another chance to grab the equaliser.
The team certainly did not do themselves justice in this game but were still applauded off by the home crowd in appreciation for what has been another great season, punching well above their weight against many opponents with far greater resources.
