Romford enjoyed lots of possession during the first half but failed to create many chances. Paul Clayton flicked the ball over the bar on twenty-one minutes and Matt Toms had an effort turned over after Reece Tranter's free kick found it's way through on thirty minutes. Reece Tranter had to go off shortly after with a hamstring strain and was replaced by Nick Reynolds, while at the other end ex Boro forward Billy Hunt nearly opened the scoring, but his free kick cannoned back off the bar, on the stroke of half time.

Once again Romford dominated possession in the second period but despite getting behind the Ramblers defence numerous times they failed to trouble the keeper. Tom Richardson dragged a shot wide on fifty-three minutes after cutting in from the left wing and Nick Reynolds snatched at a chance after youngster Daniel Jones had picked out the striker two minutes later. On fifty-nine minutes Romford thought they had won a penalty when Tom Richardson was brought down in the box but the referee waved play on, supposedly giving an advantage to Romford before changing his mind and saying the ball was played when asked the question why the spot kick was not given by the Boro bench as Burnham quickly cleared the ball.

Burnham had two big chances to take the lead, on seventy-seven minutes heading wide and then onto the post three minutes later while at the other end Nick Reynolds muscled his way through before earning a corner. From this set piece the ball was half cleared to George Woodward who clipped the ball to Daniel Jones giving the attacking midfielder a chance to chest the ball down for Paul Clayton to volley home. Three minutes later, in the eighty fourth minute Romford got their second when substitute Jamie Dicks picked out Tom Richardson on the right wing and after he beat his man, his drilled cross was bundled home by Nick Reynolds. Near the end Burnham looked like they had won a penalty but like at the other end, the referee failed to spot the foul and played on before bringing the game to a close, giving Romford their first win in March and moving them up to fifteenth in the league.
