Romford could not force a way through a stubborn Witham team who were reduced to ten men after eight minutes, with Boro legend Paul Clayton missing from the spot.

Romford turned up at promotion chasing Witham on the back of a good victory over Aveley in midweek and looked in a strong position to gain all three points again when Witham centre back Luke Olly was sent off for a vicious foul on George Woodward who had to be carried off and replaced by Jamie Dicks. Romford began to dominate and an Abs Seymour free kick missed everyone and nearly went in but for a good save by the Witham stopper on fifteen minutes.
Despite having the extra man Romford could not really create much space and with the pitch in such a bad state the Boro were reduced to playing the ball in the air but this was soaked up most of the time by the two big Witham central defenders. On thirty-one minutes a Joe Oates free kick found James Ishmail unmarked at the far post and his header across goal found Nick Reynolds who had his shot well saved before Tom Richardson's effort was then tipped wide. Two minutes later and a misjudgement in defence allowed Ryan Imbert to break through but he snatched at his shot and dragged it wide. Tom Richardson twice had chances but firstly fired wide and then shot over when working space on the edge of the box before the game's most clear cut chance on forty-three minutes. Tom Richardson found space and shot towards goal but it hit Abs Seymour and broke kindly for the midfielder in the area, he touched the ball around the defender bringing in a tackle that was mis-timed. The defender claimed he played the ball, which he did but after taking the man first and his non stop arguing eventually resulted in a yellow card. Paul Clayton stepped up but his tame effort was easily saved.

Both teams looked drained of energy in the second half after having to struggle with a combination of mud, water and sand on the playing surface with Witham's strong defence holding firm and their tricky winger causing a few problems on the counter attack without troubling the goal. Abs Seymour fired wide on sixty minutes after good work from Ryan Imbert on the right before on seventy-nine minutes Joe Oates cleared off the line when Witham had a header directed towards goal from a corner and moments later at the other end Tom Richardson poked over. In injury time Jamie Dicks blocked a long distance shot that might have sneaked in for Witham but after the five added minutes the referee brought the poor game to an end. However, a good away point gained against one of the division's top teams.
