Despite a lively start by both sides in midfield there was no early chances until the 15th minute when Adewunmi suddenly found a huge gap in the Romford defence and despite getting a hand to his shot Aaron Omand could not prevent the ball rolling into the net.
Boro's first real chance came in the 24th minute, but Ryan Imbert headed just over from a corner. Another header from Abs Seymour then landed on the top of the Cheshunt crossbar with their keeper beaten but two minutes later in the 31st they went two up when a cross from the right was turned in by Cooper. Romford nearly got back into the game just before the break when firstly a great James Ishmail header from Reece Tranter's corner was only just punted off the goal line and then a controversial incident as Ryan Imbert collected the ball on the left, rounded his marker and then the keeper who had mistimed his sprint from goal. However as he was bearing down on the empty goal everyone was amazed to see the linesman's flag raised.
Three minutes into the second half the home crowd were shocked again as a great shot from Cooper on the right put Cheshunt three up. Two further chances then fell to Ryan Imbert who did well to win the ball in the box but put his shot just over and then once again managed to sidestep the onrushing keeper but was foiled by a defender deflecting his shot. Then in the 59th minute Boro received another crushing blow when after a thunderous Tom Richardson shot from outside the area came back off the Cheshunt post they mounted a swift breakaway which ended with Lowsyn scoring their fourth.
Romford finally got a goal back in the 63rd minute when Jack Barry hammered home when the ball dropped to him after a corner and Paul Martin immediately gambled by sending on all three subs, but shortly after in the 68th minute a sweeping crossfield ball found Cooper running in from the left who had time and space to put Cheshunt 5-1 up.
To their credit Romford still pushed forward and were dismayed to see the ref wave play on when a shot on target was clearly stopped by a Cheshunt hand, but then in 77th minute got another goal back when Ryan Imbert laid the ball back to Tom Richardson who hammered home from the corner of the penalty box.
In the 80th minute the scoring was completed when another good passing move found Cheshunt's Cooper on the left who capped an outstanding personal performance by lobbing Aaron Omand for his fourth goal of the evening. Five minutes from the end Romford were once again out of luck as a great cross from Joe Oates was headed just wide by Nick Reynolds, the sort of chance he would normally gobble up.
The heavy fixture programme may be finally catching up on Boro with some tired legs and niggly injuries but it was a great team performance by Cheshunt who despite their position in the bottom half of the table played some of the best football seen at Ship Lane this season.
