On a muddy pitch Chatham started to pass the ball around nicely and Alfie May had an early shot just wide and then fired over the bar. Atu Ngoy in the Boro goal then showed a good pair of hands keeping a low shot out and tipping another shot round the post. Romford finally started to assert some pressure and after a neat interchange between Tom Richardson and Ryan Imbert, Nick Reynolds got in behind the defence but Jack Bradshaw in the Chatham goal saved with his feet to deny the Boro striker on thirty-nine minutes. A minute later and from a long Nick Reynolds through Paul Clayton headed the ball towards goal forcing Bradshaw to tip the ball over the bar. After earning a string of corners Romford finally took the lead when Robbie Norris found Tom Richardson who's curling effort was deflected off the hip of Paul Clayton and into the back of the net.
Abs Seymour replaced Jamie Dicks just after half time and often lead the counter attacks as Romford's stubborn defence kept Chatham at bay. On fifty minutes Abs Seymour, Ryan Imbert, Nick Reynolds and Tom Richardson all linked up well before finding Robbie Norris on the edge of the box but the midfielder could not keep his shot down and fired over. May gave Romford a scare at the other end on sixty minutes but Atu Ngoy saved well before Romford doubled their lead on sixty-three minutes. Chatham were on the attack but after winning the ball back Romford went on a quick counter attack with Tom Richardson finding Ryan Imbert thirty yards from goal. The striker turned and unleashed a powerful swerving shot that nestled in the top corner of the goal past a stationary Bradshaw in the goal. On seventy-four minutes Romford gifted Chatham a way back into the game when Paul Clayton felled the Chats forward but Ade Yusuff fired his penalty against the bar and over. Nick Reynolds, Tom Richardson and Paul Clayton all went close for Romford while the defence stood firm to give Romford the valuable victory.
