The opening stage of the game was end to end with Reece Tranter shooting just wide of the goal on six minutes for Romford and Daniel Charge firing straight at Aaron Omand in the Boro goal just moments later. On eleven minutes Rebridge took the lead when Romford failed to clear a corner allowing another cross to come in to the area and Liam Thomas was left unmarked to head home. It only took Romford five minutes to get back into the game when Tom Richardson beat the offside trap, cut in and hit a left footed drive towards goal that was partially stopped and Robbie Norris made sure the ball crossed the line just before it would have been cleared. On eighteen minutes Tom Richardson again broke through but fired straight at Redbridge stopper David McCartney. Another free header from Thomas was cleared off the line before Redbridge retook the lead when Abs Thompson chipped the ball to the far post and Ben Bradbury headed the ball into the back of the net. On forty-one minutes Eddie Hart should have equalised when he broke free of his marker but he shot straight at McCartney and this proved costly when Redbridge scored their third right on half time when Thompson raced through and slotted the ball under Aaron Omand and into the goal.
Romford had a chance to salvage something in the second half when Tom Richardson was brought down by Tyron Thomas and the centre half was show the red card. Reece Tranter sent the free kick towards goal but McCarthy tipped the ball wide. Despite having the one man advantage Romford didn't create any clear cut chances until the seventy-third minute when substitutes Nick Reynolds and Hussein Isa linked up and the latter fired a volley just wide. A minute later and Romford did get a lifeline when a long ball forward was misjudged by the defence and Nick Reynolds slotted home. On seventy-nine minutes Eddie Hart had a chance to equalise but lobbed the ball over the bar and it was to prove a costly miss when Eljay Warren picked the ball up and ran at the Boro defence without a challenge allowing him to pull the ball back to Charge whos first effort was blocked, but the ball span up and he headed over the keeper and into the goal. Charge made it five in injury time with a lovely chip into the goal from the edge of the box and Aaron Matthews nearly made it six before the referee brought the game to an end leaving Romford desperately needing a win at home to Tilbury next week.
