Romford’s wayward finishing cost them dear on a cold overcast afternoon in Norfolk.
The game started well for Romford as they put their hosts onto the back foot from the start and although they dominated the play they never put the home keeper under any pressure.
It was the home side who forced the first corner but they made a complete hash of it. Then it was Boro’s turn, from the corner the ball found its way out to Abs Seymour who did well to make some room for himself to put over a good cross, which the keeper did well to cut out.
Chances were few and far between for both sides, in the 14th minute Nick Reynolds holds the ball up well from a forward pass before find Tom Richardson who dragged his shot wide.
Atu Ngoy was called into action in the 22nd minute when the lively Sam Harty found a way through, the stopper did well to take the ball off Harty’s feet as he looked about to shoot.
Harty then made an impressive run through the centre of the Boro defence but shot well wide of the goal. With both sides struggling to make a breakthrough the Referee took a hand by awarding two soft looking penalties. In the 30th minute it was Wroxham who benefitted when Joseph Marsden hit home from the spot and two minutes later they almost increased their lead when a long ball forward finds Jack Smith who should have done better than slice his shot wide.
Paul Clayton had a good chance when a Nick Reynolds pass found him, but again a Romford player failed to hit the target. With four minutes of the half left the Referee adjudged that Reece Tranter was fouled just inside the box and Paul Clayton stepped up and this time made no mistake as he fired his spot kick home.
The second period started and the home side wasted a glorious chance when Remy Gordon put a shot wide of the far post and a minute later a fine Reece Tranter cross found Nick Reynolds but his header went over and moments later Nick Reynolds had another chance but his effort went narrowly wide.
On 56 minutes Robbie Norris does well and won the ball which he slides into Nick Reynolds who gives Boro the lead with a shot that goes in off the post.
That seems to be the signal for Wroxham to hit their stride and for twenty minutes they batter the Boro defence lead by the impressive Sam Harty. On 67 minutes Tim Carey shoots home from the edge of the box to equalise and with 10 minutes remaining Harty sets off on another fine run which ends with Remy Gordon putting Wroxham in front.
This finally sparked Romford back into life and they laid siege to the home goal but the visitors could not find a way through.
