Andrew Wilton was on fine form for Dereham, saving from David Ottley after eight minutes after a neat interchange between the full back and Ryan Imbert. Abs Seymour sent a free kick to the far post on thirteen minutes but it just missed the onrushing forwards and two minutes later Wilton saved Robbie Norris's effort after a good advantage being played by the referee. Romford should have taken the lead on twenty-three minutes when the normally prolific Tom Richardson had his shot saved when Jamie Dicks' mishit effort found the striker at the far post. Romford were playing some lovely football and one of these moves found Nick Reynolds whose shot was blocked and cleared forward. Romford had plenty of chances to clear the ball but somehow it found it's way to Danny Beaumont and his low drive beat Atu Ngoy and went into the net to give Dereham the lead completely against the run of play on thirty-four minutes. Five minutes later Romford had a great chance to get back in the game but after David Ottley found room behind the defence his pull back was miskicked by Tom Richardson. Joe Oates sent a long distance drive just inches wide on forty-four minutes and in injury time Tom Richardson's shot was deflected just wide after great play by the Boro.
The second half started the way the first half ended with Romford dictating the play and Abs Seymour had a shot well saved on fifty-three minutes after Tom Richardson's effort on goal was blocked. From the resulting Robbie Norris corner Abs Seymour outjumped his marker and sent his header flying into the back of the net to make it all square. Dereham had their first chance of the second half when Atu Ngoy saved well from Aaron Kay's long distance free kick before the Romford goalkeeper limped off injured, being replaced by Aaron Omand. Wilton in the Dereham goal was sweeping up well, coming off his line numerous times to thwart the Boro forwards whose final ball was just that little bit too long. The final ten minutes came and Dereham started to see some more of the ball with Ryan Hawkins sending his shot wide after a long run from defence and Sam Pledger header over from a corner before hitting Romford with a sucker punch when Kay's thirty yard effort flew into the top corner in the eighty-seventh minute. There was still time for Romford to get one last chance to rescue a point but Abs Seymour's poke towards goal was kicked off the line and back to back corners were cleared from the crowded goalmouth before the referee blew the final whistle giving the boys from Norfolk the three points.
