Both teams tested each other at the start with attacks down both flanks and through the middle but it was the home side which opened the scoring just under the half hour when they unlocked the visiting defence on their right and from the resulting low cross Ross Wall shot home
Romford had a chance to level the scores almost immediately afterwards but Danny Jones was unable to beat the home keeper from a through ball by Shaun Clarke.
Wall scored his and Concord’s second goal just before the break when he received the ball facing his own goal, dummied, turned and hit the ball home from long range before Danny Mulrooney in the visiting goal could move.
At the restart Boro set up several unsuccessful attacks but went 3-0 down after 53 minutes when Lyle Taylor went speeding down the left wing and hit home a right footed cross cum shot across Mulrooney.
The same player made a similar move a few minutes later but this time his accurate cross arrived with Wall whose scoring shot completed his hat-trick.
The visitors went down to ten men on 85 minutes when their right sided defender Richard Oxby, who had been given an increasingly torrid time by Taylor, greatly mistimed his tackle as that player went past him and received a straight red card.
To add insult to injury a Taylor corner on the left was converted by Danny Heale just before the final whistle to complete the scoring at 5-0.
As a result of this score, Concord moved to the top of the league table and Romford returned home to prepare for the job of picking up some points in their own league campaign.
Romford squad: Mulrooney, Oxby, Kavanagh, Green, Taylor (Barry 73), Clayton, Port (Burnett 53), Tubey, Jones, Nyman (MBala 66), Clarke. Substitute not used: K. Neville and Finn (GK).
Boro have no game this coming Saturday but have an attractive fixture next Tuesday October 20th when they entertain Blue Square Premier side Grays Athletic in the third round of the Essex Senior Cup at Mill Field with a 7.45pm kick off. This game is followed by a league local derby away at Tilbury on Saturday October 24th.
