Harlow started well and Joakim Ehui fired over on three minutes when he found himself free in the six yard box. Lewis Francis earned Romford a penalty on fifteen minutes when he was clumsily fouled in the box. He took the spot kick himself but it was well saved by James Hassell. Aaron Omand in the Boro goal saved fantastically from Ehui and Shamir Mullings fired the rebound over. Kurt Smith fired just wide from distance on the half hour and Joe Oates sent a dipping half volley over just before half time.

Ben Jones shot just wide at the beginning of the second half before on fifty-two minutes David Ottley fired in a screamer from thirty yards into the top corner of the goal, his first for the club on his fiftieth appearance. Minutes later Harlow nearly equalised but Joe Oates managed to clear the ball off the line and Aaron Omand saved well again from Ben Hart when the winger was found unmarked at the far post. Jack Barry nearly doubled the lead when the referee failed to whistle as the Harlow keeper was impeded and the Romford Captain headed just wide. A Joe O'Donoghue shot out of the blue cannoned back off the post for the Hawks before youngster Michael Clarke coolly passed the ball into the back of the net when put through by Ben Jones. Romford saw out the game comfortably and look to be in a very good position to beat their points total haul for the previous seasons since their promotion.
