Romford's final home game of the season ending in a victory for the hosts that moved them up to eighth in the league and guaranteed a top ten finish.

The visitors playing there fourth game of the week were full of running and commitment and they nearly opened the scoring on five minutes with Charlie Nash chipping just over after beating the offside trap, but Romford came back at them and dominated possession and chances in the half. The deadlock was broken on eleven minutes when Lewis Francis raced down the right wing and his low cross was bundled home at the second attempt by Ben Jones. Lewis Francis got on the score sheet himself four minutes later when Jamie Dicks played a sublime left footed pass over the defence and the striker got to the ball just before the onrushing Abbey keeper and poked home. Lewis Francis again was the centre of attention, this time firing a volley just wide after a Nick Reynolds long throw had been headed to him by Abs Seymour. Abbey were by no means out of the game and a James Peagram free kick rattled the underside of the bar before Atu Ngoy saved the rebound low down from Dean Green. Just before the half time whistle Lewis Francis again had a shot but this time it was saved by Jack Whincup.
Abbey continued to battle despite the fact that their legs must be tiring and nearly got a goal on fifty minutes but Atu Ngoy saved well at the far post from Tom Bruno. Nick Reynolds turned and shot narrowly over before a fantastic reaction save from Atu Ngoy at the other end after an Abbey shot from close range was deflected and Paul Clayton helped his keeper out by getting the ball clear. On seventy one minutes Abbey were back in the game when Tom Laxton fired a shot from distance that dipped just underneath the bar but moments later it was nearly three one, but Abs Seymour’s shot was saved after good link up play with Ben Jones. George Woodward went on a mazy run five minutes before full time, but after some brilliant skill to beat two men his shot was saved. Deep into injury time and the tie was finally settled when Nick Reynolds turned and fired home after a Boro corner wasn't cleared. The win makes sure Romford can finish no lower than tenth which is a fantastic achievement for the players and management who work their magic for a club with no playing budget.
