Romford nearly opened the scoring on sixteen minutes when Tom Richardson who was playing in an unfamiliar role at centre forward raced on to a through ball from Jeffrey Campbell but his chip over the advancing keeper cannoned back off the cross bar and fell just behind Kurt Smith who was ready to pounce. Boro did get the first goal when Kurt Smith ran onto Tom Richardson's flick to smash the ball home. Romford doubled the lead when Tom Richardson was clipped in the penalty box. The youngster picked himself up and casually side footed the ball home on twenty-three minutes.
Straight from kick off Redbridge had their first real chance when Robbie Rees unleashed from distance but Atu Ngoy saved at full length to preserve the two goal lead. Romford should have had another penalty when Jamie Dicks was clearly shoved in the box but the referee ignored the midfielders shouts. On thirty-four minutes Joe Oates over hit a free kick but under no pressure Redbridge keeper Dean Neil dropped the ball and Tom Richardson poked home.
Redbridge had a lot more possession in the second half but Romford's back four of David Ottley, Jack Barry, James Ishmail and Joe Oates limited them to weak efforts or shots from long distance. Romford did produce some fantastic build up play but were unable to extend their lead with Tom Richardson unlucky twice and Jeffery Campbell shooting straight at the keeper from the edge of the area.
Ex Romford legend Steve Portway came on for Redbridge eighteen years after making his Boro debut on seventy-two minutes but he was unable to inspire his team. Tom Richardson's run into the box ended with him being brought down but once again the referee waved play on with seven minutes left, before we headed into stoppage time. Substitute Lewis Francis ran down the wing and and produced a great cross that was met athletically by Tom Richardson but his over head kick was heading wide before Tyler Christian-Law shot home to score his first goal for the club and minutes later he got his second when getting on the end of Aime Blessing's cross.
Quick mention about Jamie Dicks and Michael Sammut who were fantastic in the centre of midfield and who seem to be getting better and better each game they play.
