Romford had the chances to get something out of this game but were unable to convert, whereas Thamesmead were clinical in front of goal.

The game was marred by an alleged racist comment at half time directed at the Romford goalkeeper Atu Ngoy who was booked for the incident, and some Thamesmead supporters were ejected from the stadium.
The game started slowly with few chances for either side in the opening quarter of an hour until Kurt Smith turned in the box but his shot was saved well low down by Thamesmead keeper Rob Budd. The keeper injured himself shortly after this and Thamesmead, without a substitute goalie on the bench were unable to make a change and he battled on for the rest of the match in serious discomfort.
On twenty-six minutes Stuart Zazone picked the ball up on the left wing before cutting inside and firing his shot in low past Atu Ngoy to give Thamesmead the lead. Six minutes later the lead was doubled when Zazone again scored from close range after getting on the end of a cross and despite desperate appeals from the Boro defence for offside, the goal stood.
Just before half time Romford had two glorious chances to get back in the match but the injured Budd saved well from Christian Tyler-Law and Kurt Smith when both were through in a one on one situation.
The second half started in the same fashion as the first with chances few and far between. Zazone shot over for Thamesmead and Michael Sammut had a volley well saved for the Boro. On sixty-one minutes a long free kick eluded the Romford defence and Zazone was on hand to complete his hat trick from a tight angle.
Romford reduced the deficit to two goals on sixty-three minutes when Nick Reynolds flicked the ball to Lewis Francis on the right wing who crossed low to the near post and Kurt Smith was on hand to poke the ball home. Romford pushed for more goals but did little to threaten in the final third and Thamesmead put the game to bed deep into injury time when substitute Baff Addae's snap shot beat Atu Ngoy at his near post.
