Romford could have had a penalty inside the first two minutes but the referee gave a free kick when the defender committing the offence was about two yards inside the box. From the resulting free kick the ball was deflected over the bar by the Ware wall, but the referee gave a goal kick and from then on we knew it would all be about one man, but enough about him for the time being. Romford took the lead on thirteen minutes when, from a Lewis Francis corner, Matt Toms headed down and Nick Reynolds turned on a sixpence to fire the ball into the roof of the goal. Ware nearly equalised but Lewis Francis was on hand to hack Matthew Standen's shot off the line. On twenty-three minutes Romford doubled their lead when George Woodward pumped the ball forward where Nick Reynolds leaped the highest to head down and centre back Matt Toms hit a sweet half volley past Rhys Madden in the Ware goal. Jack Barry had a long range shot saved, before in first half injury time Paul Clayton won the ball and released Ben Jones. He headed straight for goal but unselfishly passed inside to Nick Reynolds who had the goal at his mercy to give Boro a comfortable three goals to nil lead at half time.

Ware came out fighting in the second half but neither team could get going due to some poor refereeing, blowing his whistle every few seconds for tackles that rarely deserved to be given as free kicks. With the game turning into a midfield battle the shackles were finally broken when Josh Bronti crossed and Charlie Moxom headed home for Ware. Five minutes later Jack Barry restored Romford's three goal advantage when he got on the end of Ben Jones's clever chip over the Ware defence to fire past Madden. With more stoppages, yellow cards and players undeservedly getting spoken to by the incompetent official for innocuous challenges the game petered out and Romford comfortably closed out the final minutes of the game.
