Romford started well and Ryan Imbert's header went straight at Daniel Bircham in the Soham goal and Imbert again went close on seventeen minutes when his fierce shot flew just wide. On twenty minutes Matt Toms swivelled in the box but his shot was easily saved low down in the corner. Soham started to get into the game and nearly scored themselves on twenty-six minutes when Matthew Robinson's cross looped into the far post but was kept out by MIchael Gooch. The follow up fell to Buster Harradine but the winger miskicked when it was easier to score.
Romford opened the scoring on forty minutes when they won a corner that was delivered into the box by Alfie Hilton and met by Matt Toms at the far post. His header was cleared off the line by Scott Davis and the ball fell to Ryan Imbert whos shot was cleared off the line again by Davis before the ball was cleared to Reece Hewitt who delivered a decent ball back in the box that Paul Clayton poked home.
Soham nearly equalised a minute before half time when Boro keeper Michael Gooch fumbled a cross and the ball fell to Robbie Mason but the striker's shot hit the post and came out.
In first half stoppage time Matt Toms picked out Reece Hewitt with a great pass and the winger skipped past the full back before delivering a perfect ball for Nick Reynolds to side foot volley home and double the lead.

Straight after half time Harradine beat the offside trap but Michael Gooch produced a fine save. A minute later and it was nearly three nil, but Ryan Imbert's curling shot was well saved by Bircham when the striker went through one on one.
Soham luckily reduced the deficit when Robbie Mason shot that wasn't troubling the goal was deflected past Michael Gooch off a Boro defender.
Seven minutes later and it was all square when once again Soham had Lady Luck on their side as Matthew Robinson's shot that was going well wide was deflected again past Michael Gooch.
A shell shocked Romford couldn't believe what was happening when Harradine broke free down the left and his cross was turned in by Robinson to put Soham three goals to two up.
Romford tried in vain to get back in the game but it looked like Soham were more likely to score again with Michael Gooch saving from Mason and Robinson.
Deep into injury Matt Toms turned up at the far post but his volley was deflected just wide and to add salt in the wounds the referee gave a goal kick. Moments later the final whistle went and Soham left the ground with the three points.
