Two goals in the last twenty minutes was enough to give Romford victory against Waltham Abbey.

In a chance free first half neither team could create anything with both defences well on top. An uneven pitch made playing the passing game hard so both teams had to resort to a long ball game and the tactic was easily dealt with by both defences. James Peagram for Waltham Abbey had a couple of shots from distance that did not really trouble Atu Ngoy in the Boro goal and his opposite number Jake Whincup did well to close down the angle when Kurt Smith broke the offside trap. On the half hour Tom Richardson managed to get behind the defence but the defender did just enough to put him off and his shot was tame.
The opening third of the second half was similar to the first with chances few and far between until on fifty-nine minutes Romford sprang to life. Jeffery Campbell broke free down the right hand side and pulled the ball back to Jamie Dicks on the edge of the area but the young midfielder sliced his shot when he should have done better. Moments later Tyler Christian-Law received the ball on the edge of the area and his curling effort was deflected inches wide. Another chance came begging on sixty-two minutes but after good work by Tom Richardson, Kurt Smith could only fire over the bar. On sixty-five minutes Tom Richardson did well to turn his defender but his effort was tipped onto the post by the Abbey keeper and Kurt Smith was adjudged to be offside when following up on the rebound. Romford continued to push on and keep the Abbey players attempting shots from distance that were easily dealt with by Atu Ngoy. On seventy minutes Romford earned a free kick on the left hand side that was taken by Tyler Christian-Law after Tom Richardson had been upended. His attempt was easily cleared but the ball found its way back out to him and this time he picked out James Ishmail and the young defender headed home for his first ever goal for the club on his ninety-fifth appearance. James Peagram nearly equalised six minutes later but after riding his luck in some challenges his shot flashed just wide of the Romford goal. Kieran Ogunkoya turned well in the box for Abbey but shot straight at Atu Ngoy on eighty-two minutes before Boro wrapped up the three points in the third minute of injury time. Abbey had a throw deep in their own half that was passed back to the keeper Whincup but he miscontrolled the ball and he ended up handling it in the area. The referee gave an indirect free kick and Kurt Smith hammered it home from eight yards after being set up by Tom Richardson. The whistle went seconds later giving Boro two wins on the trot and their third clean sheet in four games.
