Wroxham opended the scoring from the penalty spot on six minutes when Romford centre half Lewis Payne miscontrolled the ball and it bounced up and hit his arm. Matt Daniels hit the ball low to the keepers right but Michael Gooch could not keep it out.
On twenty-four minutes Roscoe Hipperson nearly doubled the lead but when his header hit the underside of the bar the rebound came back to him but the defender headed the ball over with the goal at his mercy.
Romford should have equalised in the thirty-fifth minute when a neat Billy Radley flick found Michael Sammut and his a burst of pace left two Wroxham defenders in his wake before pulling a ball back for Joe Turner who from six yards out hit the ball high and wide.
Romford again pushed forward but Hussein Isa could only fire over from the edge of the area after Michael Sammut's intial shot was blocked.
Romford nearly gifted Wroxham a second goal minutes into the second half when a mix up in defence allowed Ben Thompson a chance to turn and shoot but Michael Gooch produced a fantastic one handed save.
Neither team really created any chances during the second half with both defences on top reducing the attackers to long shots that failed to trouble the goalkeepers.
With fifteen minutes to go Romford started to play more directly with substitute Brian Suchley getting on the end of a long ball forward but could only head wide. Lewis Francis had a corner nearly drop in at the far post and he also tried to lob the keeper but the backpeddling Michael Hilton made a comfortable save.
In injury time Romford had their best chance when Michael Sammut raced through on goal but his shot from the right hand side of the penalty area lacked power and didn't trouble Hilton.
