After some early exchanges Romford created the games first chance when on ten minutes a neat one two between Andy Oxby and Reece Hewitt allowed the latter to put a great cross in that just missed the Romford front line. A minute later and Nick Reynolds hit a long shot over the bar. On fifteen minutes Thamesmead's Enoch Adjei and Romford's Bobby Port came together in the penalty area and despite being a long way from the incident and the linesman who wa only yards away giving nothing the referee pointed to the spot. Ashley Proberts stepped up and blasted the ball into the top right hand corner of the goal.
Five minutes later and after a long ball forward Adjei raced onto the ball from the right and hit a low drive past Atu Ngoy in the Romford goal. Romford tried to hit back straight away only for Jack Barry to see his overhead kick somehow blocked on the line after Nick Reynolds had flicked the ball on from a throw. At the other end Atu Ngoy produced a stunning save when Rob Carter found space in the box. Just before half time Andy Oxby had a tame free Kick saved by Robert Budd.
