It was probably the slippery playing surface that prevented that accurate final telling pass at each end and, as the match progressed into the second period, it seemed to both sets of watching supporters that just one goal would probably be enough to get the win for their side but it wasn’t to be.
The best scoring chance for each team came midway in the second half with first of all Joe Pearman going wide for the Blues when put in on the right. A miss which was probably due to his final shot having to be made with his ‘wrong' foot.
For the Boro a cut in from the left and right foot shot just outside the area by Andy Edmunds almost crept in past the home keeper’s diving grasp with the ball having to be grabbed by him at second attempt before an opposing forward arrived to collect the rebound.
With the half frozen spectators calling for the final whistle to blow the match came to an end after just a few minutes of added time.
