Tilbury 4 (2) v 1 (1) Romford - Attendance tbc

At the start Boro attacked strongly but went one goal down after just five minutes when a Tilbury left wing cross was headed in at the far post by former Boro player Alex Read.

The visitors fought to get back on level terms and were rewarded for their efforts some ten minutes later following some good work on the left by Jamie Dicks which resulted in Kurt Smith converting from his low cross. On the half hour mark Smith had to leave the pitch through injury to be replaced by Chris Richardson.

Two events marked the minutes just before half time. The first was a crashing left foot drive by Abs Seymour from fully thirty yards which James Marrable in the home goal just got his finger tips to under the cross bar to tip away for a corner and at the other end uncertainty in the Boro defence allowed the Dockers’ Emiel Aitken to put in a shot which the officials deemed to have gone over the line and give the home side a 2-1 half time lead.

During the first part of the second period Romford strove to get back in the game but on 73 minutes they failed to clear a dangerous ball once again and Tom Webb struck to give the home side a 3-1 lead.

Despite a number of substitutions the Boro were not able to convert any of their forays into the home goalmouth and they went further behind on the 84 minute mark when Read scored his second goal with a slightly miss-hit right foot shot the bounce of which deceived visiting ‘keeper Elliott Anderson

This goal took score to 4-1 for Tilbury which is how the score remained until the final whistle.
