With Great Wakering still trying to avoid bottom spot this game was always going to be difficult, but with strong winds and rain neither team adjusted well to the conditions.
Romford had the first chance on three minutes but Kurt Smith shot well wide before a string of Wakering chances were wasted or well saved by Michael Gooch in the Boro goal celebrating his 18th birthday.
On twenty-three minutes Wakering had a great chance to take the lead but Jack Barry managed to block Okai's shot before Paul Kavanagh cleared off the line from Jay Nash's follow up.
Just before half time Michael Gooch made two more saves to keep the scores level, one from Okai and also a fantastic tip over the bar from a Hawkins thunderbolt.
After the break Romford finally brought some good work from the Wakering keeper with Godwin-Green tipping a Matt Toms free kick wide on fifty-seven minutes and and then a Jamie Dicks effort flew wide.
The deadlock was finally broken when a hopeful through ball from Wakering on seventy minutes was chased down by Ashley Hawkins who rounded Michael Gooch and put the ball into the empty net.
Boro tried to rally but couldn't break down the determined Wakering defence. Ricki Mackin's shot was well saved by Godwin-Green and a Hussein Isa effort was deflected wide.
In the final minute of the game Great Wakering player-manager Dan Trenkel got his head to a corner to extend the lead and finish off the game.
It wasn't a classic by any means, but it brought to an end another excellent season for Romford thanks to the hard work of the players, management and everyone behind the scenes at the club.
