As the game developed the Scholars came more into the game but when the goalless half time came it was still the Boro who had shaded the possession.

It was Potters Bar who were first out of the blocks in the second half and they were rewarded after only four minutes when a fast raid down the right and low cross was fired into the home net from the edge of the area by Rob Magwood.

On 55 minutes a misunderstanding between Romford keeper Lamar Johnson and his defence allowed a visiting forward to roll the ball towards an empty home net and skipper for the day Paul Kavanagh could only help the ball into his net in his efforts to clear it off the line.

Ten minutes after this the Scholars took an almost unassailable lead when a clumsy tackle on the right hand edge of the home area led to a penalty which James Gershfield converted and the same player was put through on 81 minutes from what looked like an offside position to run on, pick his spot and score low down to Johnson’s left.

Although now four goals down a rejuvenated Boro, having brought on some fresh legs and changing their formation, tried hard to get back at least a consolation goal but were unable to do so and the game came to an end with them having suffered a defeat which belied their overall share of the game.
