This was a feisty game, sometimes too much so, which was full of good football with some well worked goals from both sides for spectators to enjoy.

Boro scored almost immediately inside the first minute with Jack Barry being put through on the right collecting a rebound from his own shot and making sure the second time.
The visitors went into a two goal lead on 14 minutes when Nick Reynolds put a slide rule pass through to Kurt Smith who advanced and converted low past Aaron Omand in the home goal and they could have built up a really strong lead with their dominance following that but failed to do so
Play then became more balanced as it did through most of the game with both teams building up fast attacks through their mid fields and it seemed that a goal might be scored each time.
However, it was the Stags who struck next when Manu Dagher’s slightly mishit shot found its way just inside the visitors’ far post on 27 minutes to take the score to a single goal lead for Romford at the interval.
Around ten minutes into the second half Boro went into a 3-1 lead when Smith headed on a through ball down the left to Joe Oates who crossed into the home goalmouth for Reynolds to head accurately into his opposing net.
The score was reduced again to a single goal when Forest won a penalty on 65 minutes from which Josh Bonnett gave Romford ‘keeper, Lamar Johnson, no chance.
Five minutes after this following some positive play the scores were level at 3-3 through Hammond and the same player put the Stags in front for the first time at 4-3 after just four minutes more.
Boro being behind for the first time in the match piled on the pressure on the home goal and won an equalizer almost immediately when Abs Seymour went on a mazy run from midfield down the left to the home deadball line and crossed accurately to Reynolds who made no mistake from close in.
The last real chance of note fell once again to the visitors just over ten minutes from the end when Omand upended Smith in his penalty area and the home keeper, having received just a yellow card for his foul, stayed on and saved well from Paul Kavanagh’s resulting spot kick to leave the final score at honours even.
Romford squad: Johnson; Ottley; Kavanagh; White (Heywoord 46); Toms; Seymour; Clifton; Barry ©; Smith; Reynolds; Oates (Lee 76). Unused substitutes: Dicks; Lord and Anderson (GK).
