At the start it seemed that every time they attacked the home side would get something out of it and they took the lead on just 6 minutes when a free kick from the half way line by Paul Kavanagh was headed in by centre back Matt Toms.
The home side increased their lead on 25 minutes from another Kavanagh free kick this time from the left which Nick Reynolds headed home.
A defensive slip ten minutes after this allowed Ware’s Nikki Crace to reduce the deficit and this goal led to a period of strong but unsuccessful play by the visitors.
Two minutes into first half added time Reynolds settled the Romford nerves somewhat when he headed home his second and his team’s third goal from yet another Kavanagh dead ball kick to take the home side into a 3-1 half time lead.
The visitors reduced their deficit to just one goal five minutes into the second period when an Anthony Lane free kick from the left was glanced over home keeper Elliott Anderson by a defensive head.
As the second half proceeded Ware tried hard for an equaliser and Boro to get back their two goal lead but both failed in their efforts as 3-2 to the home side is how the score remained until full time.
