Having to deal with an early substitution at the back after only ten minutes when Chuck Duru had to substitute for Paul White who went off with a tweaked hamstring it took the Boro a little while to settle down and Market made the most of this and monopolised play with attacks down both flanks from one of which, on 20 minutes, they scored when Sam Newson turned in a low swinging cross from the right at the near post.
Ironically it was Chuck who equalized on 34 minutes when a through pass on the left was touched across to him by Jack Barry and he blasted the ball home past the advancing visiting ‘keeper.
The second half was goalless but full of good football like the first and the game, which ended all square even after four minutes of added time, might have resulted in a win for Romford had Addian Clifton’s 65 minute delicate lob not bounced too high off the Needham cross bar for an incoming Barry to get any accuracy on his header which went just too high and wide.
Romford squad: Johnson; Clayton; Kavanagh; White (Duru 10); Toms; Seymour; Clifton; Barry; Smith (Odedoyin 77); Ishmail; Dicks (Long 90). Unused substitutes: Reynolds; Richardson; Oates; Ottley
and Anderson (GK).__
