David Cobb opened the scoring for the visitors on 11 minutes when he cut in from the left and put in a right foot shot across Lamar Joseph-Johnson in the home goal.
Boro’s Nick Reynolds equalized on 18 minutes when he converted a Joe Oates left wing cross via the goalkeeper and an upright.
Soham took the lead again on 26 minutes with a long range shot from Luke Hipwell on the right only for Kurt Smith to level the scores for the home side again ten minutes later with a powerful left foot volley from the edge of the area.
After the restart play swung from end to end but it was Romford who next took the lead on 53 minutes when Reynolds scored from close in when the visitors’ ‘keeper Daniel Bircham seem to scoop out a Smith shot which had already crossed the line.
Soham fought hard to get back into the game and were rewarded on their efforts on 88 minutes, just after a stunning save by Joseph-Johnson, when Matthew Robinson cleverly looped the ball into the net over James Ishmail and his ‘keeper.
For the remainder of the match, including 8 added minutes, the visitors tried hard to get a winning goal and it took stubborn defending by the home side to prevent them being rewarded for their efforts.
