Aveley 5 (2) - (1) 1 ROMFORD Attendance 234 - Ship Lane
Another poor performance from Romford gifted Aveley all three points.
Romford conceded four near identical goals from corners as their inability to mark their men from set pieces proved costly. A left wing corner was headed home by Connor Witherspoon after twelve minutes before Alex Teniola volleyed home as he was left unmarked to double the hosts lead. Teniola grabbed his second just after half time, powerfully heading home before the striker grabbed his hat trick, heading home unmarked again and scoring Aveley's fourth goal from a corner.
With twenty-five minutes left Romford finally turned up and really put Aveley under the cosh. Unfortunately the damage was already done but the Boro need to bottle that part of the performance and leave the rest at Parkside. Nick REYNOLDS was unplayable, winning everything in the air and his long throws causing problems.Reynolds headed a cross just wide before setting up Boro's consolation. His long throw was headed in via the far post by Bryan KYUNGU in the seventy-eight minute before the big striker clipped the outside of the post with a low drive. Substitute Craig JEAKINS had a shot saved before the Aveley stopper blocked Reynolds volley from point blank range.
In the last moments of the game Aveley grabbed a fifth after Romford failed to clear a ball and Tony Martin smashed a shot over Stephen REYNOLDS and into the net. Romford have now conceded eleven goals in two games, dramatically giving up their goal difference advantage over Cheshunt who remain bottom but only a point behind us.
