Heybridge Swifts 9 (7) - (0) 1 ROMFORD Attendance 153 - Scraley Road
After conceding seven first half goals Romford fought back gallantly to prevent Heybridge hitting double figures.
In the two league matches against Boro, Swifts have looked by far the best footballing side in the division so it was always going to be a tough night for the visitors and things were not helped when the hosts were awarded a soft looking penalty as early as the third minute. Rob BUDD guessed correctly but he could not quite reach the accurate, low drive by prolific striker Luke Callander. A short time later Romford had a good shout for a penalty of their own but the referee was badly positioned to spot the handball. From then on until half time Heybridge put on a great display of fast attacking football on a very wet surface and notched up six more goals after thirteen, nineteen, thirty two, thirty four, forty one and forty four minutes by Luque, Chatting, Henshaw, Krasniqi, Krasniqi and Chatting respectively.
The second half seemed to be set up for a cricket score but the young Romford team had gathered themselves together and come out determined to prevent further humiliation, and for most of the second half gave as good as they got. Some sustained pressure in the seventy fourth minute ended with Chiduben ONOKWAI hitting a low drive that thumped against the inside of the post and came back across goal for Ben CLARKE to hit home and give the travelling Boro supporters something to cheer. However, only two minutes later Henshaw got in close to score his second despite being offside, but the officials who had not given Romford anything much all night saw nothing wrong.
Almost immediately after that Baker got number nine with a nice lob and with added time a tired Boro were now faced with around fifteen more minutes until the end, but to their credit they defended well and pushed forward when they could, determined to keep the score against them down to single figures.
