The Boro, visiting the Len Salmon Stadium for a competitive match since their Essex Senior League Championship winning year were soundly beaten by last years FA Vase Semi Finalists. Bowers hit three goals in the first twenty minutes with James Thomas opening the scoring direct from a corner in the eighth minutes before former Romford striker Shomari Barnwell doubled their lead in the thirteenth minute after out muscling Danny Cossington before slotting past Callum Chafer. It was three-nil in the twentieth minute when Romford made a mess clearing the ball and from a throw the ball made its was to Lewis Manor to score. The visitors were lucky to only go in three goals behind after being out played and out fought during the first half.
The second half was better for Romford but the damage was already done before Bowers put the gloss on their victory by scoring two quick goals late on. Barnwell chased a through ball before rounding Chafer to make it four in the eighty-fourth minute then in the eighty-sixth a free header by Martyn Stokes from a corner made it five. Romford finally hit their only shot on target in the first minute of stoppage time when Ryan Mallett's free kick was easily saved.
