Romford's final game of the season ended in a low key 0-0 draw with Boro keeper Michael Gooch saving another penalty.

In a match with a lot more riding on it for the visitors than Romford, neither team really got going in a first half starved of much goalmouth action. Wroxham, who needed to match or better Waltham Abbey's result to stay out of the relegation places were expected to go at the Boro hard but despite being slightly more on top, rarely created anything of note as they were reduced to long shots that failed to trouble Gooch's goal and it was in fact Romford's Jamie Dicks who had the game's first shot on target, but his effort was easily saved. A swift Boro move was then lead by Nick Reynolds who spread the ball wide to Greg Akpele. He ran at, then beat his man before pulling the ball back to Chris Taylor but his curling effort was well saved. Akwasi Marfo went close but his shot flashed wide and then Dicks once again had a long range effort saved.

With updates from other matches coming in and Abbey still drawing, Wroxham were safe for the time being and seemed content on not conceeding with the opening period of the second half being chance free. Then news came through that Abbey had scored but surprisingly this didn't get Wroxham to attack with any urgency despite them now being in the bottom three. With twenty-two minutes remaining the Yachtsman finally began to up their game in the final third and started to look dangerous with Gooch pulling off a fantastic save, tipping over a point plank range header before three minutes later the referee awarded the visitors a very soft penalty when the ball hit Taylor's arm that was down by his side. Jack Garrod stepped up to give Wroxham a lifeline but his awful effort gave Gooch his fifth and easiest penalty save of the season. Unsurprisingly Norfolk heads dropped and Romford now looked the more likely winners with substitute Joe Paxman having an effort cleared off the line and then firing over after getting on the end of Adeyinka Cole's cross.

When the final whistle went and news came through of Waltham Abbey's 2-0 win, Wroxham had slipped into the bottom three with only the hope of a reprieve to keep them in the division. Romford ended the season in sixteenth position, another fantastic achievement by the management team and backroom staff who once again had to work with a zero playing budget, and all forty six players who appeared for the club during the season.
