Romford showed a lot more attacking intent than in the two previous home games and Nick Reynolds had the ball in the back of the net on four minutes but the goal was ruled out for offside. George Woodward saw the keeper off his line in the eighth minute but his effort to catch him out was off target. Romford kept pushing forward but their final touch was just letting them down and this was emphasised when Joe Scott went with his wrong leg after the keeper spilled a header and the chance went wide. On thirty-five minutes Ryan Boswell played in Nick Reynolds down the right wing and the striker cut in and crossed to the impressive Akwasi Marfo but a defender got back and stole the ball off his toe as he looked like opening the scoring, but three minutes later and the hosts were ahead. Joe Scott who did not stop running all night chased down two defenders and forced them into an error with Danny Cossington cutting out a weak clearance and crossing into the box where a defender poked the ball past his own keeper, allowing Nick Reynolds to tap in from two yards and become Romford's all time leading league goalscorer. Right on half time Joe Scott pressed well and robbed the ball from his marker before beating two men but his left foot shot did not quite have enough power and was saved.
The Boro doubled their lead six minutes into the second half when Nick Reynolds launched a quick throw into the box that bounced over a defender and the goalkeeper and luckily for Romford the ball hit the post and did not go straight in (as the goal would not have stood) and the rebound fell kindly to Connor Goldstone to slam the ball into the net. Two minutes later Akwasi Marfo popped up on the right and cut in, beating his man before sending a left foot curling effort towards goal that was saved. On the hour George Woodward smashed a free kick from distance that the keeper tipped over the bar before a number of substitutions for both sides slowed the game down. With fifteen minutes left a couple of the subs combined as Luke Stanley crossed from the left and found Robbie Farrell in the box, but the striker's effort on the turn hit the bar and was cleared to safety. Abbey pushed forward towards the end to try and get back in the game but Romford's defence stood firm and earned their team a valuable victory.
