A twenty-first minute strike from the visitors gave Haringey all three points in a poor game at Ship Lane.

Romford made all the early running and in the seventh minute Nick Reynolds set up Robbie Farrell but his effort was deflected just wide of the goal. Six minutes later a George Woodward corner found its way on to the head of Matt Frew but his effort was saved by the Haringey keeper. On seventeen minutes Chris Barry picked the ball up on the right wing and cutting inside curled in a shot with his left foot to the far post, but once again the keeper was up to the task and tipped the ball wide. Then with their first real attack Haringey opened the scoring when Romford failed to clear a corner and Jorge Sambu turned the ball low into the net past Michael Gooch who seemed unsighted. Ryan Boswell was denied by another good save after flicking on a corner in the thirtieth minute and just before half time Nick Reynolds nearly caught the keeper out with a lob but just as the ball looked like it was going in the keeper back pedaled just enough and got his finger tips to the ball.

The interval lead seemed to give the visitors more confidence and the second half was mainly played in midfield with both teams cancelling each other out and their defences looking pretty solid. Attacks at both ends mostly culminated in speculative long shots that threatened the car park and surrounding areas more than the goal. Romford made some changes with new signing Akwasi Marfo making his debut and going on some good forays down the left, but apart from a couple of Ryan Boswell efforts that went close neither team threatened the score line before the referee brought the game to an end giving Haringey their first Ryman League victory after last season's promotion from the Essex Senior League.
