In the second of their two opening away matches played on artificial turf Romford travelled to Harlow who had only been pipped to the 2014/15 Ryman North Championship by one point. On a very hot day the game started at a slow space and developed into a dour midfield battle with Romford having most of the territorial advantage and it was not until the 22nd minute that either team had an effort on target when Michael Gooch in the Romford goal had to tip over a Harlow header. Nothing much else of note happened in front of either goal until the 39th minute when Joe Bricknell's fierce shot was blocked by a Harlow defender, but four minutes later a Jamie Dicks drive from way out on the left swerved in and hit the inside of the far post before nestling in the opposite corner and giving Boro the half time lead.
A shocked home side tried to push forward in the second half but could not make any headway through the Romford midfield and defence until the 65th minute when their two substitutes combined, with Melaugh breaking down the left and getting in a good cross for Jones to head home. Despite this setback Romford had still not read the script and easily dealt with sporadic Harlow attacks with Nathan Cooper especially distinguishing himself by marking prolific ex-Boro man Alex Read out of the game.
The expected Harlow onslaught only came in added time when a speculative long shot found it's way through the Romford rearguard and came back of a post and a couple of dangerous crosses in that were cleared after scrambles near the goal.
