Romford will be asking strong questions to the referee for allowing Tilbury's eightieth minute controversial winner as they once again left Chadfields

In a tough tackling game on a very muddy pitch that Romford were just edging, Paul Clayton conceded a foul thirty-yards from goal. The referee called the perpetrator and Captain Jack Barry over for a talking to and immediately allowed a quick free kick to be taken that firstly was nowhere near where the offence occurred, secondly with a moving ball and thirdly without the opportunity for both of Romford's centre backs to get back into position. The kick found an unmarked Emiel Aiken who hit a shot into the top corner of the goal leaving the visiting players, management and fans furious.
Romford had earlier dominated the first half with Eddie Hart nearly opening the scoring in the opening minute after racing through, but a fantastic stop thwarted the striker. Six minutes later and Romford were twice denied by last ditch goal line blocks, firstly from Jack Barry and then Loui Hazelwood following up. Still inside the ten minute mark and a fantastic bit of skill by Loui Hazelwood left the player free on the right touchline and his powerful low cross hit a defender in the six yard box and bounced kindly into the keeper's arms. On twenty minutes Abs Seymour whipped in a corner that was flicked on and Eddie Hart on the volley fired just over the bar.

Tilbury had slightly more of the play in the second half but despite enjoying a good deal of possession rarely threatened Romford's goal with Aaron Omand easily saving a shot on sixty-four minutes. At the other end Loui Hazelwood had another goal bound effort blocked and on seventy-four minutes Eddie Hart had a great chance, but despite racing through past a defender he unselfishly tried to find a Romford colleague when it looked better to go alone. Then in the eightieth minute came the controversial incident that gave Tilbury a very fortunate victory and rob Romford of at least a point that would have been the minimum they deserved as they continue to battle against relegation.
