Ware have vastly improved since last season's flirtation with relegation and things started poorly for the Boro when on seven minutes Kieran Bishop tackled Nathan Cooper on the edge of the box and then curled the ball around Aaron Omand and into the back of the net. It could have been worse when on twenty-three minutes George Cocklin was adjudged to have tripped the Ware forward in the penalty area but Aaron Omand expertly saved his third spot kick of the season. Even though all the fifty-fifty decisions by the referee seemed to be going against them, towards the latter part of the first period Romford finally started to get forward. Abs Seymour's shot was tipped over the bar, but this only preceded a sucker punch right on half time when Albert Adu headed home a free kick to double the host's lead.
Romford should have got back in the game minutes after the restart when Callum Ibe intercepted the ball and raced into the box before firing over. On fifty-five minutes Romford failed to clear a corner and Kieran Bishop smashed the ball in and four minutes later it was game over as Murat Karagul scored the goal of the match, flicking the ball past the defender before powerfully firing home. Ryan Imbert had a chance for a consolation goal for the Boro near the end, but his shot was saved before the referee brought the game to an end to put Romford out of their misery.
