Sudbury enjoyed the lion's share of possession in the first half and had two chances early on but neither were close to the target before Romford should have taken the lead on seven minutes when James Ishmail sent a fantastic pass into the path of Ryan Imbert who raced clear, but his left foot tame effort was easily saved. On eleven minutes James Ishmail found space on the edge of the box and after controlling the ball, unleashed a powerful swerving drive that was well saved by the keeper before Oli Dingli headed the rebound straight into the stopper's arms. On twenty minutes Sudbury took the lead when Scott Kemp capitalised on a defensive error and raced through before firing past Aaron Omand and into the net. Aaron Omand was on hand to save a close range effort on twenty minutes, pushing the ball past the post before the first half petered out.
Romford were a much better team in the second half but couldn't create any clear cut chances with both David Ottley and Eddie Hart going close with free kicks, before on sixty-eight minutes the Boro thought they had equalised but James Ishmail's header was ruled out for offside. From the resulting free kick a weak ball forward by the keeper allowed Jacob Dingli to intercept and race through before he was fouled but somehow the referee didn't see it as a professional foul and allowed the Sudbury centre back to stay on the pitch. In the final minute a long ball into the Sudbury box was flicked onto the far post where Robbie Norris blazed over the bar from six yards and that was the last chance before the referee brought the game to an end.
