Boro had a let off as early as the 4th minute when Aaron Omand had to pull off a good save, with Wroxham hitting the post from the rebound but they were only reprieved for six more minutes when Christy Finch opened the scoring. His second followed soon after when Wroxham exploited poor defence down the left.

The home club were in the ascendancy, but towards the end of the first half Boro had a good spell and should have got back into the match. Clever work by Reece Cosson set up Reece Tranter to force an excellent save from the home keeper, and then Nick Reynolds controlled a long ball into the box before being clattered by the keeper, but the referee was a fair distance behind play and inexplicably decided to award a free kick to Wroxham. Soon after a Nick Reynolds shot hit the crossbar and Jack Barry's effort shaved the post but Romford were rocked again on the stroke of half time when Finch completed his hat trick with a speculative shot that beat the unsighted Aaron Omand.

The second half proved to be a nightmare for Romford as they were mostly overrun by a Wroxham team brimming with confidence. To their credit the visitors did try to push forward to get on the score sheet rather than just limit the damage but were punished with some deadly finishing. Jamie Forshaw added two goals in 63rd and 78th minute either side of Christy Finch bagging his fourth, and then Remy Gordon and Jordan Attree both weighed in a few minutes from time.
